Brokerage & Fleet Cross Functional Specialist (On-site)

Role:

The Brokerage & Fleet Cross Functional Specialist is an individual-contributor role (no direct reports) that bridges the Brokerage and Fleet teams. This role owns the operational booking, monitoring, and execution of brokerage loads assigned to internal FIL drivers, routing these loads in FarEye and coordinating closely with Fleet dispatch on final-mile delivery. The coordinator also identifies route optimization opportunities, including consolidated customer loads and backhaul opportunities across the brokerage network, and partners with the Revenue team to secure competitive rates within the freight management tool used for business development. This role reports to the Head of Transportation.

Key Responsibilities:

•        Own the day-to-day booking and building of brokerage loads assigned to internal FIL drivers, handing off to the after-hours transport team for execution of the daily plan.

•        Route internal brokerage loads in FarEye, ensuring accurate stop sequencing, timing, and driver assignment.

•        Update internal FIL driver schedules in Sling to reflect brokerage load assignments.

•        Coordinate closely with the Fleet dispatch team on final-mile delivery execution for brokerage loads.

•        Monitor internal driver loads in real time, proactively resolving delays, exceptions, and service issues.

•        Book and coordinate loads and appointments — both pickups and deliveries — for client accounts secured by the Revenue team, ensuring capacity aligns with demand.

•        Serve as the day-to-day operational point of contact for onboarded clients, maintaining service continuity.

•        Identify and execute route optimization opportunities, including consolidated customer loads and backhaul opportunities across the brokerage network.

•        Collaborate with internal teams, including Revenue, to align buy/sell rates, secure competitive pricing within the freight management tool, and support profitability targets on brokered loads.

•        Support the Head of Transportation and Brokerage Coordinator on RFQ activity and carrier rate benchmarking as needed.

•        Track and report weekly on FIL driver transport costs for brokered lanes, supporting the Revenue team in reporting margin performance.

•        Collaborate closely with the FIL warehouse team on inbound and outbound appointments, loading times, and equipment requirements.

•        Maintain accurate load, routing, and driver assignment records in FarEye and related systems.

•        Escalate fleet capacity, driver availability, or service issues to the Head of Transportation and Fleet team when they fall outside standard resolution.

What we are looking for

•        3–5 years of experience in brokerage, dispatch, or transportation coordination, ideally within beverage, e-commerce, or 3PL industries.

•        Strong working knowledge of FarEye or comparable TMS/routing software.

•        Experience coordinating with fleet/dispatch operations for internal driver execution.

•        Demonstrated ability to identify and implement route optimization and backhaul opportunities.

•        Working knowledge of freight rate structures and freight management/pricing tools.

•        Proficiency with CRM/TMS software (Acumatica, Salesforce, or equivalent).

•        Microsoft Office proficiency, especially Excel.

•        Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

•        Experience with logistics or routing software.

•        Experience coordinating with warehouse operations for inbound/outbound loads and appointment timings.

•        Working knowledge of driver scheduling software (e.g., Sling) and ability to reconcile schedules against real-time load changes.

•        Experience supporting cost and margin reporting for transportation or brokerage operations.

•        Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment on daily execution decisions with minimal direct supervision.

The Brokerage & Business Development Manager is a high-impact hybrid role focused on driving revenue and optimizing logistics capacity. What we are looking for:
